A Day in the Life of Simon Clarke

In this month's Day in the Life post, we speak with our Commercial Lead in APAC on his average day from morning alarm to lights out!

6am

I am generally up early as my wife and son are both awake by 6am. However, this gives me a good opportunity to go out on my bike or go for a walk depending upon my mood (and whether it is raining, of which it does a lot here right now in Singapore!)

8am

I go into the office 3 days a week and today is an office day, so I begin my commute to our shared office space in the Executive Centre at One Raffles Quay.

8.45am

I grab a coffee and then start work. The first part of my day is to review and respond to emails, reaching out to prospects and setting up meetings for future days ahead.

11am

Mid-morning and it’s time to join a client debrief alongside our Client Service team, where they share the results of the latest campaign we’ve measured. Here at On Device Research, our consultative approach ensures that it’s not just data that’s delivered back to clients, but actionable insight too.

12pm

At midday, I follow up on a previous client meeting. Today, this includes work on a forthcoming presentation and collating all the relevant information and materials ready for our next catch up.

1pm

Time to grab some lunch. If I’m in the office, heading to Lau Pa Sat is always a favourite as it's close by and there is lots of choice and at 1pm the crowds have eased a little. On other days, I sometimes meet a client for lunch, which is a perfect opportunity to catch up on future plans.

2pm

Next, I have a meeting presenting to a client following up on ways in which we can help support their measurement needs.

3pm

By mid-afternoon, I am preparing further proposals, including devising some contracts & MSAs for clients. I also use this time to ensure invoicing is up to date.

4pm

I have a call with our wider international team. This call generally covers a check in on current projects and sharing of interesting findings.

4.30pm

Towards the end of the day, I have my meetings with our UK team as they come online. This includes a regular catch up with our Global Head of Advertising Effectiveness, Sarah Robson.

6pm

Time to head home. Generally, my evening consists of dinner and then maybe a movie or show but my youngest son has football training tonight, so I drive him there and whilst he’s training, I make a call to my eldest son who’s away in Ireland.
